Tire Defects

Tire tread separation is a dangerous condition that has been linked to a higher instance of vehicle rollovers. It occurs in steel-belted radial tires in which the steel belts are not properly bonded to the rubber tread.

Tire tread separation resulted in a recall of millions of Bridgestone/Firestone tires in 2000. The same problem prompted a recall of 450,000 Chinese-made radial tires for pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles and vans. The tires, sold under the brand names Westlake, Telluride, Compass and YKS, lacked a safety feature called a gum strip that reduces the chance of separation.

Tires can be defective in other ways, too. Defective materials, mismatched tires or new tires that spent too long on a store shelf can all cause problems, such as blowouts and accidents.

Brake Defects

Brakes are complex mechanisms that are vulnerable to failure in several different ways. The brake hoses can come loose, the parking brake, housings, calipers, hydraulic system and anti-lock brake system can all fail. Our attorneys and automotive experts will investigate your accident to determine if faulty brake components, on your vehicle or on the vehicle that hit you, were responsible for your accident.

The attorneys of Hersh & Hersh can help you receive financial compensation for the damages you suffered. To learn more, please contact us for a free consultation.
